Female rock artist and hitmaker Sheryl Crow has established a reputation as one of the greatest singer-songwriters of American music. Her incredible appeal has earned many hearts as one of the sexiest female artists of her age.
Born in Missouri in 1962, Sheryl Crow goes by her real name Sheryl Suzanne Crow. She is the daughter of trumpeter and lawyer Wendell Crow and piano teacher, Bernice Crow.
At age six, the young artist started playing the piano. She soon pursued music at the University of Missouri in 1984. She also performed with local band Cashmere.
Right after college, Crow worked at Kellison Elementary School as a music instructor. On weekends, she performed with various bands.
The budding artist moved to Los Angeles in 1986, where she recorded jingles for companies such as McDonald’s and Toyota. She also worked with famous artists such as Michael Jackson, Sting, and Rod Stewart as a backup singer.
Her road to international success began when she met the Tuesday Music Club. Its group members helped Crow on writing songs for her debut album Tuesday Night Music Club in 1993. However, due to conflicts related to songwriting credits, Sheryl decided to leave the group.
The album Tuesday Night Music Club featured smash hits such as “All I Wanna Do” and “Can’t Cry Anymore.” Her songs became a hot topic when it landed the Billboard charts and sold millions of copies. She later made it at the Grammys, where she won three awards, Best New Artist, Record of the Year, and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
In 1996, Crow bagged another set of Grammy Awards for her self-titled album, Sheryl Crow. Her incredible success went on for many years while she performed for several concert tours. The Grammy winner produced a total of 11 studio albums.
Sheryl Crow went on to receive various recognitions. She received an honorary degree from the University of Missouri and Southeast Missouri State University. Meanwhile, television network VH1 included her as one of the 100 Greatest Women in Music, where she placed at 25th. Crow also garnered a total of nine Grammy awards on her entire music career.
In 2019, Crow worked on a collaborative album entitled, Threads which was also her final album. However, there are plans that she will continue to record music and perform on tours.
In 2006, Sheryl underwent surgery after being diagnosed with breast cancer. After her treatment, the rock artist bought a 154-acre horse farm in Nashville. She is living with her two adopted sons, Wyatt and Levi.
